My pt is at the dealership right now, wouldn’t turn over. Sounds like a starter solenoid problem, right? Apparently they hooked up a computer and it gave a transmission issue?! Does that even make sense?
I called another dealership, asked them, and they said if the torque converter locks up, it wouldn’t turn over.
So I’m really confused now. It shifted perfectly before, no problems at all. Thoughts oppo.kinja?

Are they referring to the park/neutral safety switch?

The starter goes through the transmission, doesn’t it? It’s possible.

That’s all they told me, which is frustrating.

True, but I never heard any clicks when I tried to turn it over before.

Ask them for the specific code or fault.

This. And ask them on the spot. If they fail to produce papers, but are still insistent, ask to see the car hooked up to the machine. If they’re crooked, time to put in a call to the regional manager.

I’m not there, but i can csll and ask. What do you mean by fault?

What if in not there?

The thing that they said is broken. You said a transmission problem, but there are many, many parts to an automatic transmission.

Ask them what part is actually causing the problem. I’ve never heard of a “locked up” torque converter causing no-start issues.

That's what the 2nd dealer said, the first one just says it was a Trans issue.

I have no idea. Saturday they didn't call me, yesterday and today they were closed. I'm left in the dark.
